The European Center was created in the spring of 2014 under the leadership of the Vice-Rector for European Affairs Prof. PhDr. Lenka Rovná, CSc. The Center aims to strengthen the role of Charles University in the international scientific area as a "research university", to involve university scientists in international scientific networks, to enable young and novice scientists in particular to gain experience at international level and to raise more funds for science and research. The Center cooperates individually with individual faculties of the UK and provides them with assistance and support in the submission of projects. It is linked to national and European institutions responsible for European science projects, in particular Horizon 2020, Erasmus+ and others. It intensively cooperates with the CZELO (Czech Liaison Office for Research, Development and Innovation), which provides free placements, as well as, for example, with the MICEP (Medical Information Centre for European Projects). Due to their nature of activity, the Center is run by the Department of Science and Research, the Foreign and Study Department with the support of the Legal and Economic Department.
