The COsP project supports research visits to universities across the Atlantic Ocean

The Combinatorial Structures and Processes (CoSP) project funded research fellowships for 52 scientists at top universities in the USA and Canada, including Rutgers, Princeton, Simon Fraser, and UC Berkeley. Scientists from MFF UK and partner institutions collectively spent 143.5 months across the Atlantic.

4 researchers from CU succeed in ERC-CZ

The 8th ERC-CZ competition results, announced annually by the Ministry of Education and Science, have been released! Researchers from the UK have received 4 ERC-CZ grants to support their projects for the next two to five years - Associate Professor Pavla Brennan Kearns, Professor Lucie Doležalová, Associate Professor Stanislav Nagy and Pavel Veselý, PhD. Congratulations to all!

CU will attract new postdocs thanks to MSCA COFUND

This year, Charles University was the only applicant from the Czech Republic to be awarded CZK 60 million for its Charleston project under the EU's flagship programme MSCA COFUND for doctoral and postdoctoral training to support young scientists. Their research focuses on sustainability.

Matyáš Fendrych and his second ERC grant

"We have previously described rapid auxin speciation in the root of a model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. Now we want to focus on this pathway in other parts of plants and other species, such as grasses that are closely related to cereals, which brings us closer to possible practical applications," says Matyáš Fendrych from the Faculty of Science of the Charles University.

How do deep-sea fish actually see? Zuzana Musilová and her new ERC CoG will find out

"Our primary goal is to understand the limits of what the vertebrate eye is capable of! Most vertebrates have a very similar – evolutionarily conserved – eye structure. It is by studying extremes such as the eye of deep-sea fish that we can also learn many useful insights about the human eye, or gain inspiration for the design of telescopes, for example," says Zuzana Musilová from the Faculty of Science, Charles University, who has now been awarded a prestigious ERC Consolidator grant.
